Wave Rock (Hyden), Jun 2020

👨 First road trip in Candice's new car, Jessica. We spent about 5hrs heading down, stopping off at some little country towns on the way to Wave Rock for an overnighter. Wave Rock is a 110-metre long multi-coloured granite cliff shaped like a huge wave about to crash onto the bush. It’s located just outside of Hyden, 340 km (or about a 4hour drive) outside of Perth, Western Australia.

We had a pub crawl over about 250km on the way there, starting with a bevvy in Beverley, to giving the bar a hidin' in Hyden. With so long between pubs, I made sure to grab a couple at each spot. Buying Candice a new car for our anniversary resulted in her wanting to drive the whole way...won't see me complain! She gave the new wheels a woah-to-go test. No, I was not gripping the seat with my butt cheeks...

We worked on Candice’s country road wave as well - if you don't wave on a country road, you're a goddamn savage. Uncultured barbarian swine everywhere! Only 4 returned waves for the whole trip, bonus points to the bus driver who gave a whole hand wave. Be like bus driver guy.

Up far too early the next day to climb Wave Rock for sunrise, although it looked like Silent Hill it was so foggy, so not much of a view. Was pretty creepy with no one else around that early in the morning.

Then we checked out Hippo's Yawn, Maluka's Cave, did a bit more creepy foggy walking before making an emu friend then catching the Hyden Historical Steel Sculptures on our way out of town.

And one more quick stop on the way home because growing up is overrated.
