👩‍🦰 Belated birthday holiday, yay!!! Aaron took me down south and spoiled me rotten with not a tent in sight…bliss! 😄 We set out for beautiful Torbay, a small coastal town in Western Australia, about 5hrs drive south of Perth and decided to drive non-stop, although on the way down we did jump out at the Giant ram at Wagin for some silly photos, naturally 🐏

Aaron had booked us in at Beaumaris Escape and it was a dream. The property is a massive 46 acres of lush green rolling paddocks surrounded by the Karri Forest. Situated almost halfway between Albany and Denmark, it’s the ultimate location to explore nearby picturesque beaches and forest - but we were more interested in the award-winning wineries and eateries!

There are two cottages on the property but it’s large enough that you feel like you're on your own. We stayed in the Eagles Nest House, which felt so warm and inviting with the vintage furniture and four poster bed. My favourite part, however, was the wrap around balcony. Sitting out there eating breakfast while watching the animals in the paddock was so relaxing and peaceful, I honestly could’ve sat there for hours.

We arrived fairly late in the day so we had a quiet night after we settled in and the next day was spent exploring the property and walking around enjoying the views.

That night Aaron told me to get dressed for a fancy dinner but wouldn't tell me where we were going. I'd just finished getting ready when there was a knock at the door and to my surprise in walked a lady in a chef's outfit with her arms full of of food and cooking utensils. Turns out we weren't going anywhere! Aaron had organised an in-house three course meal experience, complete with wine pairings.

There was lamb cutlets to start (lamb is my absolute fave!), Moroccan spiced beef with truffle mash for mains then cardamom pudding with caramel sauce to finish, each with their own wine... I was so full and so content 🤤

And the best part? We drank as much as we wanted and no one had to drive home.

After a very good sleep post-eating and drinking all the things, we decided we hadn't imbibed enough liquor and joined Denmark Winelovers Tours. The first stop, Rockcliffe Winery, has an insanely generous 18 tastings, and while I didn't even try them all - the dry varietals I knew I wouldn't enjoy were passed straight to Aaron - I was feeling a little merry by the time we left haha! We grabbed a few bottles to take home as well.

From there we hit up Boston Brewing Co. where Aaron sampled a beer paddle and we had some much-needed food. After lunch we needed dessert, so it was onto the Denmark Chocolate Company for a paddle of a different type and some sweets to take home. The hazelnut liqueur was a particular fave for both of us.

The day of check-out was here, but we had another day of activities to squeeze in on our way back. First stop was the Denmark Animal Farm to pat and feed all the cute (and not so cute) furry things. The big eyed baby joey was so adorable, I just wanted to stuff him in my jumper pocket like it was a kangaroo pouch and run away with him! 😍🦘

From the furry to the scaled, we left the Animal Farm and made our way to Denmark Dinosaur World. It was so quiet we pretty much had the place to ourselves, and as well as the friendly human hosts, we had two friendly feathered hosts that followed us right around the park pecking at Aaron's shoes haha! We got to hold a very friendly snake, who was a bit too friendly for my liking, coiling around my arms continuously.

And then for one last stop off we went 40m up in the tingle tree tops for a little stroll. Oh yeah, have I mentioned that Aaron is afraid of heights? Haha! Beautiful view from up there though and what a way to end the trip before heading back down to Earth and back home.
